DZVUKAMANJA PUNISHES KAITANO TEMBO

ZIMBABWE international, Terrence Dzvukamanja scored on debut as SuperSport United emerged 2-0 winners over Richards Bay in their opening DStv Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The win saw Matsatsantsa start the new 2023/24 campaign with a victory and the Tshwane giants will now travel to Durban where they are scheduled to face AmaZulu FC on Wednesday.

Kaitano Tembo’s Richards Bay, on the other hand, began the new season with a disappointing defeat in Polokwane and they will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Lamontville Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

Matsatsantsa started the match brightly, with debutant Shandre Campbell looking lively in the left flank and he had a chance to score in the 22nd minute, but he dragged his shot wide of the target.
Campbell continued to unsettle the Natal Rich Boys’ defence from the left flank and he delivered a quality cross that was headed wide of the target by Godspower Ighodaro, and the score was 0-0 at halftime.

The 18-year-old remained a thorn in Richards Bay’s backline after the restart and he provided the assist when debutant Terrence Dzvukamanja broke the deadlock with a close-range finish to make it 1-0 to SuperSport in the 56th minute.

The goal rattled the visitors’ defence and they conceded again with 18 minutes left as Ghampani Lungu set up debutant Ighodaro who poked the ball home from close range to seal SuperSport’s 2-0 win over Richards Bay.
