THE battle for promotion continued in the Division One Eastern Region as leaders Tenax and third placed FC Makaha picked wins while second Buffaloes drew.
Tenax beat Bikita Minerals 3-0 to three points clear at the top with 56 points after Buffaloes were held 1-1 by city rivals Mutare City.
Makaha won 1-0 at Ruwa to maintain pressure on the leading pack.
Tenax head coach Blessing Madombi feels grateful following his players’ performance against Bikita which he described as a good side.
“I’m impressed with the boys’ performance since Bikita has been a good side in the past five weeks or so and I think its key to maintain the home unbeaten run as a team in the title race,” he said.
Meanwhile, ERSL administrator Patients Dube said the tittle race is interesting as three top teams are only separated three and points.
“It’s a very tight race now as Tenax are keeping their run, Buffaloes are also in it.
“FC Makaha are there again, looking at the permutation, Tenax’s tough game is against Masvingo, Buffaloes will travel to FC Makaha, the same Tenax will go again to Makaha.
“Tenax will then play against Mutare City which is a local derby, in their last games, so I think any team from these three teams can run away with the championship,” he said.
“We are going to have teams play the same time and day to avoid any other dirty dealings from these teams and properly monitor the proceedings.
“We are not saying people might manipulate results but we are just preventing because we want to have the best team winning,” he said.
