FORMER jingles singer, Mauridy Palume (46), has switched to gospel music and released a single called ‘Zvinoda Jesu’.
Now known as Evangelist Akim, he had been singing jingles for national holidays and programmes such as Defence Forces Day and Pfumvudza/Intwasa.
He says that era has ended.
He revealed plans to release a full gospel album next year despite the financial challenges he is facing.
He hailed the fans who have been backing him, despite the hurdles in his path, and the positive response to his latest single.
“This is the path I have chosen to embark on now.
“I want to be a beacon of inspiration and hope through my music.
“I wrote the song ‘Zvinoda Jesu’ when I faced disappointment from close relatives and I thought that it was the end of me.
“I had no one to turn to except finding solace in writing gospel music.”
He added:
“This is my only way of giving back to God for making me survive that hard period.
“The response that I got from my listeners on social media is overwhelming following the release of my single but I am in need of resources to distribute my music nationwide.
“I encourage my fans to continue supporting me and my music as I strive to make a difference in the world through gospel music.”
