A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Mutare has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for aggravated indecent assault charges on his daughter.
The State said the man abused his 12-year-old daughter in February this year.
He was watching a football match on television, in his lounge, while his daughter was sleeping in the same room.
The father slipped into the complainant’s blankets and started kissing and caressing her.
The matter came to light the following day when the complainant confided in her teacher, who accompanied her to the Police Station. to make a report.
Meanwhile, A Chinhoyi police officer, Talent Mabvuwo, 36, was dragged to court facing murder charges.
He is accused of murdering Douglas Sivaminyile.
The court heard that on May 9, Mabvuwo, along with Constable Madhuku and Constable Chireya, went to the Sivaminyile’s home.
They claimed they were investigating a crime in which Sivaminyile was a suspect.
Mabvuwo was armed with a service pistol loaded with four rounds.
When Mabvuwo heard some sounds from one of the rooms, he fired four times, killing Sivaminyile.
Mabvuwo was remanded in custody to May 28.
