A FATHER has offered US$5 to each of his two kids as maintenance per month.
He claims he makes just US$15 a month and offered US$10 for his two school-going kids at the Harare Civil Court.
Sifelani Mutsuto was dragged to court by his ex-wife, Tendai Mupeteteri, who was demanding US$190 for the support of the kids.
One is in Form 1 and the other in Grade 6.
Mutsuto said his new wife was the one who was supporting him and he accused Tendai of leaving him with their children after their divorce in 2017, before returning in January this year, to demand maintenance.
“I am not working and only do part-time jobs in Msasa, wherever I’m called. My offer is US$10,” said Mutsuto.
Tendai disputed his claim, arguing Mutsuto misused the money she sent him while she was working in Botswana.
The magistrate ordered Mutsuto to pay US$60 and half of the children’s school fees.
