CHAMPIONS FC Platinum are on the brink of elimination as they play their fourth game in Group B of this year’s edition of the CAF Champions League
FC Platinum are bottom of the standings with only a point from their three games after losing to Esperance away and to tomorrow’s opponents in their own backyard.
A defeat for the Zvishavane-based club will mean the end to their second attempt in the African safari as they will be unable to catch the other teams with two games to play.
After falling to 1-0 defeat at Barbourfields to Horoya earlier this month, Mapeza conceded the stage might be bigger for them.
“For us it’s a huge mountain to climb but I think for me and the players it’s a good experience.
“We just have to keep working hard and see what happens in our next games,” he said.
With a trip to Orlando Pirates and a home game against defending champions Esperance still to come, Mapeza’s men have to at least get a win in Guinea to craft a comeback and finish among the top two.
Meanwhile, fellow competitors Orlando Pirates and Esperance face each other with control of the group up for grabs.
The Buccaneers are currently top of the group with five points, albeit on superior goal difference and with a win will have a better chance of moving to the next stage.
