BOTSWANA gospel diva, Refilwe “Fifi” Sibanda, has fallen in love with Zimbabwean music, which has seen her collaborate with a host of local gospel musicians.
Fifi has collaborated with Sabastian Magacha on the song ‘Mororiseng’ and they are working on the video of the song, which will be released in two weeks’ time.
The UK-based Fifi is married to a Zimbabwean husband, Evans Sibanda.
They were in the country recently in the company of producer Ngoni “Ngoni Gee” Gwasira to shoot the video of her collaboration with Magacha.
“Growing up in Gaborone, I was raised in a church environment and that is when I gave my life to Christ.
“So, during that time, I used to listen to a lot of international gospel artists like Rebecca Malope and Lundi from South Africa, who used to inspire me.
“I also got to listen to a lot of Zimbabwean artists, including the likes of The Charambas, Ivy Kombo, Saba and many more, and I just fell in love with Zimbabwean gospel music.
“That love was also then solidified when I got married to my husband Evans, who is from Zimbabwe, who has been a pillar of strength for me in my musical journey.”
She has released a host of singles and she is currently in the studio working on her debut album.
“Working with Saba was a huge achievement and a blessing as well because Saba has seen it all in this industry so I believe he will help me grow as an artist,” she said.
