THE RhoNaFlo Foundation has donated baby wear and milk to twin girls whose teenage mom, Yeukai Dandara, died two weeks after they were born.

The girls were left in the care of their paternal grandmother, Veronica Zhanje, after Yeukai (16) died at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

Their father, Tatenda Zhanje, is currently in custody and financially unable to provide for the children.  Tatenda is facing culpable homicide and having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Tatenda started sexually assaulting Yeukai when she was 15.  RhoNaFlo Foundation leader, Chipo Tsitsi Mlambo, said that the donation was made in memory of her own mother, who died after giving birth.

“Thank you H-Metro for publishing that sad story of Yeukai,” said Mlambo.

“It touched me much considering that my mother also died while giving birth.

“So, by this donation, I am honouring her legacy. Thanks for raising the alarm of these twins,” said Mlambo.

The twins’ grandmother Veronica hailed the Foundation for rescuing her grandchildren.

“I had nothing to give the twins besides my love and warming them with my arms and heart,” said Veronica.

“My son is behind bars. He has no money since he was not gainfully employed.

“The death of the twins’ mother shocked us and we are yet to heal and find comfort.

“I want to thank RhoNaFlo Foundation for bringing joy to us by donating milk and clothing for the twins,” she said.

Meanwhile, Tatenda is expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates’ Court today.
