South African Afro-fusion band, Freshlyground, will be in Mount Pleasant, Harare this Friday for a once off performance hosted by Nedbank Zimbabwe, Jam Tree and Twelve.
The gates will open at 6pm while live music will start at 7pm with the band scheduled to be on stage by 9pm.
Speaking to H-Metro, Eren Levendoglu the artistic director at Twelve said the Zimbabwe International Musicians Trust has previously hosted artists from South Africa, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Holland, France, Ireland, UK, US and Brazil.
“The trust was set up at the beginning of 2017 with a main aim of realising the project named ‘Twelve – Music every Month’.
“Our objective is to bring to Zimbabwe world-class musician performers of all genres and nationalities to both teach and perform in Zimbabwe on a monthly basis.
“Freshlyground agreed to take part in this show to support the project. All proceeds from the show will go towards ensuring the continuance of the ‘Twelve’ project through its second season to May next year,” she said.
The SA outfit will be supported by Blessing “Bled” Chimanga &The Dreams Band, So Kindly and DJ Rob Macson will close the evening.
Chimanga is another example of the international networking, collaboration opportunities that the ”Twelve’ project is trying to establish for Zimbabwean music students and professional musicians.
He has just returned, from the International Gümüşlük Music Festival in Turkey where he shared the stage with world renowned International jazz artists including New York musicians Oran Etkin, Sullivan Fortner and Ilhan Ersahin.
