THEY used to be drug addicts but now they are promising musicians.
The road has not been easy for Ashley Shonhai and Ashley Neshamba, popularly known as Tanya Tsotsi and Scarfizzo Tsotsi.
But, gradually, they are beginning to draw attention in their musical journey.
The young couple met at a drug base.
“We were both drug addicts and we met at a drug base and we are grateful that our lives have transformed,” said Tanya.
Tanya has collaborated with Hwindi President, the late Soul Jah Love and Lady Squanda.
Tanya feels that in five years’ time she will be one of the most celebrated female musicians, not only in Zimbabwe, but the whole of the African continent.
The duo has released songs they did together and these songs include Vanga Vanonokerwa’ and Mombe Yekuronzera, among others.
Scarfizzo Tsotsi has stated that being in the music career has helped him deal with his past.
“I got arrested at a very young age of six and my song, Mbodza says it all.
“I have seen the hardest of times.”
“Working together is an eye opener for us as we have discovered that our power is in teamwork.
“We recently engaged Thembinkosi Mlambo, popularly known as Mr Slim, who is our managing director and is the man behind all the logistics and guidance.
“He has been guiding us and we are currently working on an album and EP that are to be released before year end.”
Mr Slim confirmed that the couple is working hard and this is giving him the ability to make an effort for them to go far in the industry.
“Well, after what I have seen from the time they came under my management up to where they are now, all I can say is that the sky is not the limit for them but only the beginning.”
He feels they have the capacity to be big stars in the industry.
