City of Harare’s vision 2025 to create a world class city is so close yet so far following its failure to remove garbage on its door step and surroundings.
There is garbage accumulating in the vicinity of Town House along Speke Avenue and the dirt gets into council premises.
As litter collects, council has a vision of transforming Harare from a third world city into a world class city.
Contacted for comment Harare City Council Principal Communication Officer Innocent Ruwende said their intention is to transform Harare from a third world city into a world class city with a functioning and coordinated infrastructure which offers various opportunities to its citizens.
“We are currently working towards keeping the city and the area surrounding our offices clean through an urban renewal programme; where we are partnering various stakeholders in order to spruce up the city.
‘’Some of the projects include the revamping of the First Street mall and the Mbare urban renewal project, whose main anchor will be state of the art Shawasha Shopping Mall.
“The First Street Mall project council is partnering with Econet Wireless to give a major face lift to the commercial area,” he said.
“In terms of computerisation of council systems, we are making strides as we recently migrated from paper based agenda and minutes.”
