. . . Carnival postponed indefinitely
SOCIALITE and businessman, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, was yesterday unveiled as the new face of the Harare International Carnival (HIC) for the next three years.
However the carnival has been postponed until further notice owing to the ban on public gatherings due to the outbreak of cholera, which was declared a state of emergency.
Addressing journalists and stakeholders in the capital, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive, Karikoga Kaseke, said Ginimbi had the credentials to assume the ambassadorial role of the rich multicultural fete dubbed the “festival of happiness”.
Speaking to H-Metro on the sidelines of the event, Kaseke said:
“The concept of being the face of a particular brand is widely used as a tool and it is a way of promoting a brand.
“People are appointed brand ambassadors for the ability to make a positive difference in promoting the brand.”
Kaseke said for one to be an ambassador, he or she must have excelled in a particular discipline, be it sport, music, art, business, beauty pageants or charity work.
He said Ginimbi was a perfect candidate to be the face of HIC and the Brand ambassador for the maximum period of three years.
Kaseke also highlighted on the functions of a brand ambassador.
“A brand ambassador is supposed to assist in the promotion and development of a particular brand for example the Harare International Carnival.
“To advise Zimbabwe Tourism Authority on promotional activities and packages to pursue on how to market the Harare International Carnival.
“To represent and talk positively about the Carnival at any appropriate forum,” said Kaseke.
He congratulated Kadungure on his new appointment as the face and brand ambassador of HIC.
