A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl from Chegutu, was allegedly axed to death by her uncle yesterday, following a family dispute.
Tryforcer Moyo, 21, accused his relatives of bewitching him.
He became violent and chopped the toddler.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, urged members of the public not to involve children in their disputes.
Ass Comm Nyathi said Moyo is yet to be apprehended.
“Police in Chakari are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Tryforcer Moyo, who is wanted in connection with a case of murder, where a minor died while admitted at Kadoma General Hospital,” he said.
“The minor was struck once on the head with an axe.
“The suspect, who was drunk and violent, accused some family members of bewitching him before attacking the victim, who is his brother’s daughter.”
Meanwhile, the police have released the names of four people who died in an accident, in a Toyota Noah, on their way to a football match on Saturday.
Ass Comm Nyathi said three of the victims had been positively identified by their next of kin.
The other one is yet to be identified.
“Three of the four victims have been identified by their relatives as Mark Mumba, 34, of Finland, Lion’s Den, Spencer Banda, 23, of D-Troop, Chikuti, Lion’s Den and Clive Wilo, 25, of Chikuti compound.”
The four people, including the driver, were killed while 15 others were injured, when an overloaded Toyota Noah burst its left rear tyre, overturned, before rolling several times at the 2km peg, along the Lion’s Den-Mhangura Road, around midday on Saturday.
The vehicle had 19 people on board.
They included players from Emily Park and Monrose farms in Mhangura’s Ward 5.
They were travelling to Mtunzi, in Ward 13 area, for a social football match.
