GLOWING tributes are pouring in for the former Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) chief executive, Karikoga Kaseke, who died yesterday at a private in Harare.

He was 62.

Kaseke has been unwell since 2018 when he suffered a stroke.

He resigned in 2021 on medical grounds.

Former ZTA Head of Corporate Affairs, Sugar Chagonda, hailed Kaseke for his vision.

“We have lost a visionary who drove tourism to dizzy heights during his reign as the ZTA chief executive.

“I was his confidante when he took me on board from 2008 to 2017 when I left ZTA for ZCDC where I hold the same portfolio.

“I owe him a lot for grooming me to be the leader I am today and I have always been in touch with him and the family,” said Chagonda.

Former Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa,  shared his grief on his X handle, describing Kaseke as a principled man.

“The passing away of Karikoga Kaseke is sad news.

“An upright man who spoke the truth and stood for his principles, morals and values.

“He was a true liberator of the country and may his legacy live on. Rest in peace KK.”

Several employees, who worked with Kaseke at ZTA, described the late tourism chief as a hard worker and perfectionist.

“He was a hard-working boss who used to demonstrate how it should be done.

“He would embarrass you in public if you disappointed him but that was the best way he trained us. At one point I hated him but I later realised he was a fine gentleman,” said a former ZTA employee.
