THE Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union have named the team to represent the country at the 2023 A&B Triangular tournament at the Gaborone Golf Club in Botswana this month.
Team Zimbabwe is made up of two teams, the ‘A’ Division and the ‘B’ Division sides, and will be out to defend the championship they won in the previous edition.
The tournament is set to run from August 29-31.
Both the A and B Divisions are made up of six players apiece and they have one reserve player.
Thokozile Sibanda will be the teams’ co-ordinator while Simon Murengweni is the coach.
In a statement, ZLGU president, Margaret Vera, said:
“We wish them all the best as they take up this duty and defend the trophy in Gaborone, Botswana.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Selection Committee for their work.
“It is an honour, not a right, to represent one’s country and, therefore, the executive is confident that those selected will do their best to honour Zimbabwe.”
The series features Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
ZLGU golfers recently hosted and won the 2023 Gilberson and Page Challenge tournament where they beat Kenya and Zambia.
For the past 20 years, the union has been pursuing a junior golf development programme to ensure the survival of women’s golf and improve the level of competition in Zimbabwe.
