CHIBUKU Road to Fame winners, Grade 2D, launched their debut album titled ‘Ngoma DzeGuruve’ at a glittering event at Chamkom Gardens here over the weekend.
Romeo Gasa was the guest artist.
Grade 2D band leader, Reginald Kamuchanyu, told H-Metro, that the launch was a stepping stone to greatness.
“The fans enjoyed our music even though the place wasn’t packed to the rafters.
“It was a fair crowd. The album contains 7 tracks,” he said.
The group has 10 members but will add one or two as they are hoping to add mbira and marimba.
“I am the leader and lead vocalist too,” said Kamuchanyu.
“It’s our prayer that we find shows and promoters so that we can be able to showcase our art of music and learn from other artists as well.
“The group was formed in 2015.”
Kamuchanyu said he was once a drummer and also used to do backing vocals for a local band, Levite Vanguard, which was a rock group here in Chinhoyi.
“Isiah Manzvimbo approached me, my friend and my other brother to join his band as he was supposed to perform at the Chibuku Road to Fame in 2014.
“So, we helped Manzvimbo to search for band members and that’s how the band came into existence.”
Kamuchanyu said they helped Manzvimbo to win the Chibuku Road To Fame.
“In 2015, I then told all the members who had worked with Munzvimbo to form our band.
“That is how Grade2D was formed and we are glad that we are doing something awesome,” he said.
