A HARARE woman claimed that her former husband has neglected their child’s needs by not providing food and buying clothes for her.
The matter came to light at the maintenance court where Diana Kararira demanded $150 from her former husband Tendai Chikwepa for their child’s welfare.
“Your Worship, I want Chikwepa to offer $150 for the welfare of his child. He hasn’t been looking after our child. He does not provide food nor does he buy clothes for me yet he owns three grocery shops,” said Kararira.
“I am into vending where I realise $30 per month. The money is not enough to cater for our child’s needs therefore, Chikwepa has to play his role too,” she said.
In response, Chikwepa denied ever owning grocery shops but offered $35.
“Kararira is not telling the truth. I do not own any grocery shops.
“I am an employee in a grocery shop where I earn $70 per month and I am willing to maintain our child with $35,” said Chikwepa.
Chikwepa was ordered to bring his proof of earnings on October 12.
