The Zimbabwean modelling industry is not for the faint-hearted.
A lot of misconceptions and stereotypes surround it and for one to say they have made a name in the industry, it takes courage.
This maybe the case, however, Samantha has shown over the years that she is not your typical Bulawayo beauty but she is also quite the entrepreneur.
Having started modelling at an early age, the 28-year-old supermodel said her passion for the industry made her career choice clearer.
“My height makes me stand out as it is one of the first things considered in most cases and my facial features make me who I am.
“Being crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe was the highlight of my career and helped me make a name for myself.
“My long term goal is to be a model with a difference; I want to help underprivileged kids in this industry to realize their dream,” she said.
In 2015 she launched her own modelling agency, Openeye Studio, and went on to pioneer the Model of the year show Zimbabwe last year.
Samantha told H-Metro that she has been training over 80 models each year regardless of ages, sizes and height.
“Besides the passion and drive I have in the industry, it was the constant messages & phone calls from aspiring models asking me to help them live their dream as models.
“I have been scouting through social media & because it’s not only a management agency but a grooming and etiquette school I always get inquiries.
“The local modelling industry is slowly but surely picking up, all thanks to the local companies that are involving models in their advertising campaigns, we truly appreciate it.
Samantha said when she is off the ramp and away from the cameras she enjoys watching series, engaging in outdoor activities, game drives and hunting.
Starting the agency was perhaps her biggest challenge but she is glad to have had her breakthrough despite the stiff competition.
