MUSICIAN Hope Masike is set to tour different cities in India from November 29 to December 7 as their jazz music group Monoswezi will be promoting their last album titled Aje.
The group comprises of artistes from Mozambique, Norway, Sweden and Zimbabwe, hence the name Monoswezi drawn from the first few letters of the names of the countries.
Monoswezi will perform in Delhi, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai and Gurugram.
Masike said she is excited to be part of the tour which will also be her last act for this year.
“I am elated to be touring India at this time of the year.
“Music will always be part of my life and I have gigs of the year anywhere the music takes me.
“And the main aim is to promote our last album Aje which we feel it still needs to be pushed on the international market,” said Masike.
Masike said this year has been great for her since she has managed to release her third album, which has earned her international recognition.
She also said Monoswezi is doing well as it is ending on high with a tour in India.
“This year has been a very successful year for me.
“I managed to do my third album which is also doing well on the international market.
“And our group Monoswezi is also attracting the international market as we have been booked for shows in different cities of India,” she told H-Metro.
Monoswezi was formed in 2010 and it has six albums to its name called Monoswezi Yanga, The Village, Ethiopia Super Krar, Monoswezi, Music From The Source and A je.
The group comprise of artistes such as Hallvard Godal – saxophone & clarinet (Norway), Erik Nylander – drums – (Sweden), Calu Tsemane – percussion – (Mozambique), Putte Johander – bass -(Sweden) and Hope Masike – Mbira, Vocals -Zimbabwe.
