THE burning of popular entertainment hub Dandaro Inn in the heart of Harare Exhibition Park comes as a stern test for proprietor and music promoter Patson ‘Chipaz’ Chimbodza.
The joint was burnt on Tuesday and property worth thousands of dollars was reduced to ashes.
Dandaro Inn hosted several entertainment event weekly and musicians used the venue for their album launches.
Chipaz says Dandaro Inn was a source of livelihood not only to him but employees and musicians, who used the venue for their shows.
Chipaz told H-Metro that the reconstruction will begin soon.
“I am going to try to rebuild Dandaro Inn again because many people were living out of it.
“Dandaro Inn was not only a source of livelihood for me only but also for my employees too so I have to work hard for it to open again,’’ said Chipaz.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established and they suspect it could have been an electric fault.
“We do not know the cause of the fire yet but we are suspecting that it could have been a result of an electrical fault,’’ said Chipaz.
Despite the loss, Chipaz said he was happy that there were no injuries or loss of life.
“I have lost property worth thousands of dollars but I am happy because no one died. Property can be replaced but life cannot replaced.
“We lost furniture, thatching, pool tables, about six television sets among other things,” he said.
