ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has taken over the building of TwayiTwayi Primary School in the Bulilima District to provide skills training for inmates’ reintegration into society after they are released.

ZPCS is providing artisans and inmates who are undergoing training, along with Sabasi community builders.

The joint project aims to encourage the education and rehabilitation of prisoners through community engagement.

ZPCS spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Meya Khanyezi, said seven prison officers and five inmates will be working with the Sabasi community at the building site.

“Upon release, they will be equipped with skills to be able to take care of their families as they can be employed,” she said.

Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Evelyn Ndlovu, joined ZPCS Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu in touring the construction site on Sunday.
