AFRO jazz crooner, Victor Kunonga, celebrated his 50th birthday in style when he unveiled his sixth album titled Induna/Chief at Sherwood Golf Club.
The album launch, which turned out to be a huge celebration of the singer’s landmark birthday, attracted a full house of jazz lovers.
His father Fred, 77, graced the event and even showcased his dancing skills.
Dub poets Albert Nyathi and Chirikure Chirikure also spiced up the night.
Many people got to know that Chirikure was the man behind most of Chiwoniso Maraire’s hits when it was revealed he penned most of her songs.
Kunonga honoured the big crowd which turned out for the show with a polished act.
He also thanked the Ndebele community, which raised him before he settled in Harare.
The album carries 11 tracks namely Ngizongena, Sokhela, Lomuhle, Hushamwari, Chiedza, Olomusa, Vakuru, Siyaphambili, Parudo, Manyepo and Uzobusiswa.
“To be honest, I was impressed by the turnout because I never anticipated this.
“I will always give my best whenever I perform as was the case today here at Sherwood Golf Club,” he said.
