INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere, has called on employees at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) to transfer their library material into digital format.
During a visit to ZBC’s Mbare studios and Pockets Hill in Highlands, he found that some historic songs and videos were still recorded on analogue formats.
The focus, he said, would be on a move from analogue to digital and ZBC should utilise their extensive library.
He also highlighted the need for equipment repair and the acquisition of new technology in line with current standards.
“Our focus will be on Transmedia, in terms of ensuring that we move from analogue to digital,” said Minister Muswere.
“We are expecting ZBC to make use of the old material stashed in their libraries and transfer them to digital.
“My tour into every studio and office is a practical assessment following a meeting with management and editors.
“There is a need for a meticulous analysis of everything on the ground to come up with the best in building the nation.
“There is a need to realign, restructure and recapitalise some of the institutions.”
