Nyasha Kada in South Africa
TOP dancehall artiste Soul Jah Love gave a ‘platinum’ performance at Genesis Pub in Nortem Park, South Africa last Sunday.
Jah Love was the headlining act at the Platinum Records Studio launch.
Clad in formal wear, the Conquering Family boss took to stage around 12.30am and did not waste time to get revellers ‘insane’ on the dancefloor.
He opened up his set with an acapella version on the popular hit song “Pamamonya Ipapo” after the usual introduction to stage by his emcee and backing artiste, Supa Yut.
During his one hour 30 minutes set, Chibaba entertained hundreds of revellers that attended the highly entertaining gig with a playlist of both old and new singles like John Terry, Hokoso Minding, Hameni munhu waMwari, Ndini uya uya and Mwana waStembeni among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the show, promoter and Platinum Records boss, Phil Medzani said:
“I want to thank everyone that came out to support tonight (last Sunday) and also many thanks go to Jah Love for a splendid performance.
“People came out and they really loved his set.
“The event was a great success and this was the event to officially unveil the opening of Platinum Records Studio.”
“Our mission as a studio is to conquer the region as we aim to work with various artistes of various nationalities and to promote untapped Zim talent that is based in South Africa.
“A lot of these artistes lack studio time and this is the opportunity we are handing to them.”
Medzani also revealed that he will soon be opening an online radio station to promote music recorded at his studio.
“We are dreaming big and we look forward to having our own media house. The online radio station will go a long way to promote artistes we record and upcoming Zim talent,” he added.
