Warriors captain Partson Jaure has pleaded with ZIFA to organize friendly matches and an early camp ahead of the CHAN tournament slated for April in Cameroon.

Zimbabwe are in Group A with the hosts, Burkina Faso and Mali.

Warriors play the hosts in the opening match and are returning to the competition after missing the previous edition in 2018.

“Not being active is a disadvantage to us because some will be rusty from not playing.

“I think the management should organize an early camp for us and a few international friendlies before the tournament.

“This will help us to bond and know each other on the field. The matches will also help us to work on our strengths and weaknesses as a team,” he said.

The DeMbare star says their target is to come back home with silverware.

“It’s a tough draw, we are in a tough group with tough teams.

“We are playing the opening game and the first game usually is a reflection of how we are going to play in the rest of the games.

“We just have to do all we can in all the games because we want to come back with silverware this time around.

“Football is now revolving and it’s tricky to say there is a small team or to say we are a small team look at how Somalia and Botswana surprised us,” he said.

He added:

“Our target this year is not just to go there to add numbers but to participate and represent ourselves and the nation well.

“We want to win the cup or at least get to the finals. We know this is achievable and we want support from everyone from the board to the fans to make this happen.

“So we would want everyone’s support in helping us make our country proud.”
