JOHANNESBURG. Sekhukhune United head coach Kaitano Tembo is pleased that his side will finally get a chance to ‘rest’ with the current FIFA International break.

This season’s first set of the international break begins on Monday, 19 September, until 27 September.

Babina Noko, who are based and train in Johannesburg, are literally always on the road as they play their home matches at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Tembo says the break will come in handy for Sekhukhune, who are languishing second from the bottom of the DStv Premiership log.

“Yeah, look, probably this is a time we might need to freshen the team as well in terms of giving the players more time to rest because you must understand that the travelling as well takes its toll on the players,” he said. “Because in our last game we were in Cape Town (against Cape Town City), we came back and lucky enough we had a few days we didn’t play last weekend.

“So we had two days to try and recoup and travel again coming to Polokwane to play our home game against Stellenbosch, so maybe the international break will give us time to rest.”

Tembo also addressed the issue of doubts starting to emerge among the Sekhukhune supporters.

“For me, what is important is the work that I am putting in. The way we are playing as a team, I think we are playing well,” said the Zimbabwean mentor.

“I would be worried for me personally if we are not really playing well and creating chances because each and every game that we play.

“We create a lot of opportunities. Good, clear-cut chances and we are not just taking them.”

The next FIFA International break will be between 20 November to 18 December for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. – FARPost
