DYNAMOS interim coach Genesis “Kaka” Mangombe is seeking back-to-back victories over Simba Bhora when they clash in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Barbourfields on Sunday.
Mangombe guided Dynamos to a 1-0 win over Simba Bhora in a Chibuku Super Cup first round match, at the same venue, earlier this month, in his very first assignment.
The reverse fixture ended goalless at the National Sports Stadium with Mangombe working as an assistant coach to Herbert Maruwa, who has since been dismissed from the club.
DeMbare, who are fourth with 32 points, trail leaders Highlanders by nine points, and they are looking to cover up the gap and gatecrash the championship party.
“We are very positive that we can register a win against Simba. It is like a derby considering the human capital that switched from Dynamos to Simba,” said Mangombe.
“It’s going to be a tricky game considering the team is well known for their defensive abilities.
“They have a block defensive model which is hard to penetrate.
“However, if we do due diligence on the game and execute our game plan it will be easy for us.
“You also have to consider that we have a huge squad which gives us depth and it becomes difficult for the opponent to predict our game on the day as we select the team based on performance.
“But a lot needs to be done if we are going to win this one.”
He added:
“We need to change our mentality and stay away from complacency.
“If you look at our defeat at Green Fuel, it was through loss of concentration.
“I think the players were just thinking this is Greenfuel and we failed to convert a penalty and then conceded at the same time.
“Barbourfields has a good playing pitch compared to the one we used against Sheasham at Bata in our last game where it was hard to move the ball.
“We are enjoying playing at Barbourfields as a team and the fans are very welcome.
“It is like playing at Rufaro.”
Forward Issa Sadiki didn’t train with the team yesterday as he is nursing an injury.
Crowd favourite Denver Mukamba did not turn up for the training session as he is reported to be attending to family matters.
