WARRIORS defender, Bruce Kangwa, believes they have the capacity to write their names in the history books of Zimbabwean football by becoming the first crop of local players to make it into the Round of 16.

When the Group B draw was made, the Warriors and the Flames celebrated being paired in the same group as they both believed they would collect maximum points from this fixture.

The match fits the description of a derby as they are the only two countries representing the SADC region at the AFCON finals.

Kangwa, who plies his trade for Azam FC in Tanzania, as a utility player, is among the Warriors’ experienced players as this is his second appearance at the AFCON finals.

“So far, everything is good, we have prepared well for this match, everyone is raring to go,” said Kangwa.

“I am optimistic, I believe this is our time and we can do it, we just have to be focused and give our all and hope for the best.

“I believe everyone in the team is equally good, we are all on the same page and fighting for a common goal, everyone is working very hard, and it’s really encouraging.”

The ageless Kangwa, also predicted a tough match against Malawi.

“They are not here by coincidence, they earned their spot to be here, we are not reading much about them.

“It’s going to be a tough match, but we are going to try our best to get maximum points,” said Kangwa.
