ABSA Premiership side Amazulu have followed up to find out the condition of their star player Ovidy Karuru.
Karuru, who has been ruled out of COSAFA after his ankle injury against Botswana, will recover in three weeks time.
After the Karuru incident, fears are if match officials do not protect players enough, in future clubs could stop their star players from participating in the regional tournament.
Although Karuru did not sustain any fracture or dislocation, MRI scan yesterday indicated he has damaged ligaments and soft tissues.
“Yes my soft tissues and ligaments were damaged and the doctor said I need up to three weeks to recover.
“I have been receiving calls and messages from my club officials. They are not angry that I got injured, they are worried about me,” Karuru
“Yes it’s off season but staying healthy is a good thing. Amazulu is like my family and everyone cares about my welfare.”
The Warriors captain added that his wish is to fully recover before the next season.
“What is done is done, what I am going to focus on now is recovering. I am going to follow all of the doctor’s instructions to make sure I get better in time,” Karuru said.
