Warriors midfielder Ovidy Karuru says they want silverware in both COSAFA and AFCON tournaments.
The Amazulu who scored four goals in the just ended ABSA Premier league says though they might have fatigue they want to do well in both tournaments.
“We are not under pressure and the technical manager know how to manage us, like today we just did light training.
“We were just loosening up, and they know we can’t do physical, we are just coming from our seasons and we are fit.
We are prepared for these tournaments but our main focus is the big one, we won’t lie about that one. In terms of COSAFA we’ve done well for the past two years and we want to do it again,” he said.
“We are prepared, but our main focus is a big one, cosafa we have done that for two years, to go there and fight, we are not in a pressure, even if we don’t perform well, if we managed to work as a team we will come with the cup
“It is important to us, but we know that everyone in Zimbabwe is mainly focus on the afcon.
“But we have to take the cosafa seriously since that where we can see if we are ready for the big one, we have to show character,” he said.
Karuru believes that they can beat the so called big teams.
“If we look at it now any team is beatable, we are not scared of Egypt.
“If you look at it now any team is beatable and of course they have big names but we are not scared of Egypt. We will just go there as underdogs then we will see what we can do.
“DR Congo we have played them before, we know how they play and they will be well prepared and we will also be prepared for them.
“But I am sure we will qualify for the next round for the first time,” he said.
Karuru has participated in the AFFCON qualifiers and it will be his first time to be in the tournament if he makes it in the final squad.
However, the star reckons that he will fight for his place.
“It’s not easy but I’m going to fight for my place and fight for my place in the first 11 also because no one is guaranteed as you can see that they are 34 players in the squad.
“I want to be part of the history because I want to be there when we go to the next round.
“ I have faith in the group of players that we have here, most of them want to fight. If you look at Knowledge Musona he is not playing at his club so he will take the opportunity to showcase his talent so that he can maybe go to a better league or he can get a chance to play at his team,” he said.
