… embarks on Zambian tour

BARELY a fortnight after launching his debut album Francesca on home soil, South Africa based rapper King 98’s stocks have started growing.

So encouraging are the strides he has made in a short space of time that he has been invited for an Africa Day treat in Lusaka, Zambia alongside South African entertainer, Nasty C.

The two pint-sized rappers, whose alliance continues to bear fruits, are billed to perform in Zambia at the Polo Arena (Showgrounds) on May 25 (Africa Day) between 10 am – 15:30pm.

King 98’s manager – DJ Simmz – confirmed the tour which begins two days earlier before the main Africa Day celebrations.

“King 98 has just been invited to Lusaka, Zambia for a one-off performance alongside Nasty C.

“As his handlers, we are very much-excited that he has managed to win hearts of show promoters across the Zambezi River, barely a fortnight after he launched his debut album – Francesca – at Wingate on May 1.

“It’s  like a miracle to us and we are glad that greater things are beginning to happen for the little man who has never looked back ever since he took music seriously,” he said.

DJ Simmz said King 98’s ‘comradeship’ in music with Nasty C was now bearing fruits as the rappers are getting well along together.

“King 98’s friendship with Nasty C started last year at the ‘Save a Life Concert’ where the two exchanged notes.

“Afterwards, King 98 went on to record a song with Nasty C and even invited him to come and feature at his album launch which was also graced by Nigerian superstar Davido.

“The May 1 show was where the two rappers managed to cement their relationship and it feels good that they are now working together on a number of projects,” he said.

While it is difficult to make a breakthrough in a foreign land, DJ Simmz said they had roped in a marketing company to help them distribute King 98’s music in Zambia among other countries.

“Obviously, we are working with Zambian marketers to help us push King 98’s album in Zambia.

“It’s something we have always wanted to do to penetrate the sub-region.

“This tour is just one of the first adventures where we are promoting King 98’s works.

“We are also glad that he is also working alongside his friend Nasty C and it’s always important for him to learn from the best.

“After all, he was also endorsed by Davido and he is learning and hanging around with the best on the continent.”

To ensure that he gets ‘intimate’ with his new followers in Zambia, King 98’s  team will be leaving the capital two days before the Lusaka show on Africa Day.

“Like I indicated earlier on, King 98 and I will be leaving early to ensure that he holds a number of interviews with a Zambian radio and television stations.

“We also want him to be able to meet fans before the show so that he gets a feel of the love he gets from Zambians.

“His counterpart Nasty C will also be around as they also meet fans before the show.

“Judging by the feedback, it really promises to be a big show on Africa Day since he has posted some video drops promoting the show,” he added.

DJ Simmz said there was nothing with his artiste learning the ropes under big names like Nasty C and Davido.

“This is the kind of exposure any sane artiste will be cherishing for should the resources and opportunities permit.

“In his case, he has made his own links and he deserves to enjoy the synergies her has made.

“Networking is one of the important fundamentals for artistes to meet their dreams.

“In King 98, this is one of his biggest strengths and we hope he will be rewarded for his efforts,” he added.
