LADY Chevrons skipper, Mary Musonda, believes they are in prime shape for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier Africa 2023 to be hosted by Uganda next month.
The Lady Chevrons spent 17-days, in a training camp in India last month.
They went on to host an unofficial series against the South African Emerging side as they rounded up their preparations.
“The series was very competitive and we learnt a lot in a short space of time and mainly the series taught us on how to manage our batting in the power play and also to create some good partnerships if we are to post a competitive score.
“The series gave us an appreciation of a game situation and I believe from the series, in terms of managing, we have improved our game sense,” said Musonda.
With the qualifiers for the two global spots getting underway next week, Musonda believes they have done all they could to be in fine shape.
“I think we have done all we could and now comes the time to deliver in Uganda and we are ready to fight for a spot to qualify for the global qualifiers and everyone is raring to go,” said Musonda.
“The composition of the squad is good. We’re in a good space on and off the field.
“The younger players are bringing in great energy and are performing well.
“The seniors are bringing in their expertise and I believe the blending will be play a pivotal role at the qualifiers,” said Musonda.
The Lady Chevrons will battle it out with Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania and the hosts for two slots.
