LADY Enereta International High School held its annual prize giving day on Friday, celebrating the school’s FIFTH anniversary.

The prize giving day event showcased outstanding achievements by students in various subjects.

The overall best student was chosen from across all forms, taking into account the academic performance of each form using mark schedules.

The awards were divided into categories highlighting academic excellence, sports achievements, discipline and smartness.

The principal of LEIHS, Andrew Nyamhere, said despite facing challenges they have managed to clear most of the hurdles.

He said this multidimensional approach ensured that students from all walks of life were recognised and celebrated for their exceptional abilities.

“We are not only awarding academic excellence, but we are also commemorating the 5th anniversary of LEIHS.

“It is a moment of reflection, celebration and hope, celebrating academic achievement prize giving days like today are an important tradition in the life of the school.

“Our debate team recently scooped the best award.

“We take this opportunity to celebrate dedication, hard work and resilience of our jewels, parents and all our stakeholders.

“Every prize awarded isa reflection of commitment, discipline, and realisation of academic growth. To all our award recipients, congratulations, makorokoto, amhlope.

“It is also pertinent to remember that excellence isn’t just measured by trophies or grades. Excellence is measured by how we grow as individuals, how we face challenges, how we contribute to our community and how we support one another as a people.

“I applaud not only those receiving prizes, but every jewel here who has persevered through challenges, worked hard, and supported others.”

The chairperson of the board of directors, Lanny Diamond, said the school takes pride in nurturing exceptional public speakers, debaters and quiz masters.

“Opening during the global COVID-19 pandemic with 100 students was an unexpected challenge, yet the school emerged stronger than ever.

“The students and teachers embraced new technologies, adapting to online learning platforms without losing focus on academic goals.

“This determination led to remarkable achievements: The first A Level exams were in 2021, and by 2022, the school achieved a commendable 70% pass rate in the IGCSE exams. Just a year later, the school hit a new benchmark, boasting an 85% pass rate in the 2023 IGCSE exams,” he said.

LEIHS took part in the Jan Robertson Hockey Tournaments, competing against schools such as St George’s, St John’s, Chisipite, Arundel, Hellenics and Nattie College, among others and in 2023.

The school reached the semi-finals of this prestigious schools hockey competition.

This year, the tennis team went all the way to the national finals held at Chinhoyi High representing Mashonaland Central after having been triumphant in the regional tournament and it scooped a silver medal.

FIFTH YEAR ANNIVERSARY

As we mark the 5th year anniversary of LEIHS, we celebrate not only the success but conquering the many challenges that have come in the school’s path, they have made us stronger and more determined.

In these five years, we have built a solid foundation for academic excellence, fostering an environment where both teachers and jewels are encouraged to innovate, think critically and grow.

Many of us have watched the school evolve from a vision into a vibrant institution, not only in the province but nationally.

The journey of building the school has been filled with hard work, collaboration with various stakeholders and sheer dedication. It’s a story yet to be told.

Let me extend our deepest gratitude to our founders, the Mutyambizi Trust, the school board, our amazing staff, parents who trust us every year with their jewels, the students themselves who have believed in this vision and contributed immensely to its realisation.

As we look back at our first five years, we can only thank God for the amazing success, and will power to forge ahead.

To our staff, who put extra hours for the school to run smoothly, every parent who is supporting the vision and those who have been part of the journey, I want to thank you and promise you the very best going forward.

The next five years hold even greater promise.

LEIHS will continue to evolve with the changing world, preparing our jewels for the challenges of the future, whilst equipping them to be compassionate leaders.

We will continue fine tuning our academic programme, expanding our curricular activities and providing amazing platforms for our jewels to excel.
