LADY Sables coach Munyaradzi Mhonda says his team is ready for their Pool C Women’s Africa Cup match against Uganda this afternoon at Kyadondo rugby grounds in Uganda.
The Women’s 15 rugby national team arrived in Uganda on Sunday and is supposed to play their Ugandan counterparts in two matches, that is today and on Sunday.
“The team is ready, we had our Covid-19 tests here in Uganda and all the players were cleared, we are in good spirits and looking forward to a good game tomorrow (today), ” Mhonda told H-Metro yesterday from Kampala.
He gave details on their training since arriving in Uganda.
“We had our first training session yesterday (Monday) and started working on some heavy legs from the long flight. We actually did a fitness session to get the body going, adjust to the warm weather and humidity here,” said Mhonda.
He went on to add that as of yesterday his side had no injury setback.
“As of now it is all good no serious injuries, just minor niggles that will not hinder our plans, our camping here helped us to get the girls in the best possible shape all things considered.”
The coach said the two games against Uganda are important for his side.
“The two games are important in that two wins here will guarantee the Lady Sables qualify for Africa Cup,” he said.
According to Rugby Africa, the Women Rugby Africa Cup games is going to be a route to qualify for the global Women 15’s rugby competition slated for 2022.
