South Africa based gospel musician, Letty Chawira bagged her first gong last Friday.
Chawira scooped Discovery of the year award at the Marantha USA Awards because of refreshing single “Heal our land” sang in various languages.
The awards ceremony was supposed to take place in Kenya last year November but ended up being held online this year due to Covid-19.
Speaking to H-Metro, Letty Chawira said:
“It’s an honor to be recognised outside your country.
“It means the music is getting to various parts of the world and its being appreciated.
“I feel so much humbled and honored to be representing my country and flying the Zimbabwean flag.
“I’m motivated to work hard more than before.
“I really feel that people are appreciating my work.”
Chawira has had a number of nominations in the last years at various awards ceremonies like the ZIMSA and PERMICAN among others.
Her song and video is currently making waves on the local gospel scene.
