DYNAMOS assistant coach, Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe, still feels the Glamour Boys can win the league championship.
Chigowe was the man in charge when DeMbare floored four-time league champions FC Platinum in a Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final match at Mandava on Saturday.
He was thrust into the spotlight again after his boss, Genesis Mangombe, was tied up with national team commitments.
Mangombe was part of Baltemar Brito’s backroom staff when the Warriors played Botswana in Gaborone on Saturday as part of that country’s Independence celebrations.
Chigowe was brought back onto the bench after the reshuffle which followed the dismissal of Herbert Maruwa.
He guided DeMbare to a penalty shootout win, after the match had ended in a 1-1 draw, and they will now meet CAPS United in the semi-finals.
Chigowe feels the Glamour Boys can win the League and Cup double.
“There is a lot of talent at Dynamos,” he told Zimpapers Sport.
“I believe if we continue to bring such good performances, we will be in there to give a good fight for the league championship.
“However, there is a lot of fighting that needs to be done.
“It’s 10 games to go and we will see how it goes.
“If we continue winning games like this one against FC Platinum, I think we will finish well.”
The Glamour Boys have not won the league championship in the past nine years.
Their last success story was scripted by Kalisto Pasuwa in 2014 when they completed four straight titles.
They are back in league action tomorrow when they travel to the Lowveld for a date against Triangle at Gibbo.
