FORMER Ngezi Platinum and Dynamos midfielder Tichaona Mabvura has joined Manica Diamonds.
Mabvura joined the Gem boys on a free transfer after his contract with ambitious Ngezi Platinum expired last year in December.
In an interview, the former Dynamos midfielder said:
“I am happy to join Manica Diamonds and it is a good thing for me to be back here playing for my home team.
“I am looking forward to achieving with them, I am not here to add numbers but to win trophies and make history for
Mabvura, who had spent five years with Ngezi Platinum, said he is excited with the return of football.
“Just like every footballer I am happy that finally the beautiful game is back, remember to people like me it is more than a
game, it is a profession and a career, so the long Covid-19 break was a setback.
“However, it is so unfortunate that the forthcoming mini-league will be played in empty stadiums, especially for me it is
sad because for the first time I was going to play for home crowd, something I am sure Mutare football fans were longing for,” he said.
Mabvura has become the latest Mutare-born and bred star Manica Diamonds have managed to lure back home after
they earlier this week landed former Highlanders and Triangle midfielder Pascal Manhanga. Manhanga told H-Metro that he is happy with the move and is looking forward to putting Mutare football on the map during his new chapter with Manica Diamonds.
“I am happy to join Manica Diamonds, my home town club and I hope am going to help the team win something, you
know playing for your hometown team is more of an ambassadorial duty and it is a challenge I am ready for “I am promising the local football fans in Mutare that as a team we are going to achieve something by the end of season which they will be proud of,” he said.
