Young Zim hip hop artiste, Saint Flash28 – real name Tawanda Zinyuku – says Alick Macheso’s creativity inspired him to take interest into music.
The 20-year-old said Macheso’s lyrics inspired him to venture into music though in a different genre compared to the sungura ace.
“Lyrics in music can speak to anyone whether it is Zim hip hop, Zim dancehall or sungura.
“A lot of people get surprised when I say Macheso inspired me because of the genre that I sing.
“I love Macheso’s lyrics and how he arranges them. They are meaningful and mature, a quality that I want to possess in my lyrics,” said Saint Flash28.
“His lyrics motivated me to do an art of my own as I express my own story.
“I love learning from the greats and that his how you grow.
“Besides Macheso, I also like Mudiwa from the hip hop side,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Chitungwiza based artiste recently released his debut EP this month titled Flash.
The EP carries seven tracks namely No No No, Falling featuring K Yung, Heroe, Huya Timbodanan, Peter Pan featuring K Yung & III Charro, Milli and the title track Flash.
“I used to be in a group called Audio Plug3, but I am no longer part of it. I wrote this album with the intention to be heard and promote myself as a brand.
“I dedicated the EP to myself. In the song Flash I was expressing about myself.
“This EP should be the beginning of my other solo projects to come,” said Saint Flash28.
The EP – Flash – was produced by Tanto wavie ,Clef Jones and Brythreesixty.
He worked with three studios such as Rocklife, GNiK and Axiano.
Flash has also a clothing label called Swag Emoji.
