SUNGURA kingpin Alick Macheso has embarked on a countrywide tour aimed at reaching out to his fans ahead of the launch of his forthcoming album.
Macheso is set to launch a new album at Alex Sports Club in Harare on June 7.
The development means the musician will limit live performances in May for him to concentrate on the new album.
And to avoid starving his fans around the country, the musician has embarked on a tour that will see him performing in most parts of the country.
The tour saw him recently performing in Mt Darwin, Chinhoyi and Kariba.
He continues with his marathon of shows this Easter holiday starting in Harare tonight (Good Friday Eve).
The entertainer will be performing at Charehwa Matombo in Budiriro 2 supported by Somandla Ndebele.
On Good Friday, Macheso drives all the way to Bulawayo for a special performance at Palace Hotel.
The Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman takes his act to one of his favourite hunting grounds in the country, PaGomba Café in Beitbridge, on Saturday.
The outreach will also involve a massive sungura festival dubbed Chesology Festival on April 13 in Bindura.
The show will see Macheso sharing the stage with a number of sungura artists.
The musician’s publicist Tich Makahamadze spoke on the concept.
“Of course we are used to these countrywide tours but this time around it’s a bit different and special.
“The album launch, as communicated before, is set for June 7 in Harare at Alex Sports Club. This means the band will have limited shows towards the launch because we want them to be concentrating on the final touches.
“We then decided to have an outreach to our fans out there, also spreading the June 7 gospel. We are in Harare this Easter Good Friday Eve, at Charehwa Matombo in Budiriro 2.
“On Good Friday we are performing in Bulawayo at Palace Hotel before driving to Beitbridge for a performance at PaGomba Café,” said Makahamadze.
