Alick Macheso is expected to stage his last public shows this weekend before the launch of his new album on June 10, H-Metro can reveal.
The move, according to his camp, is meant to give the band enough time to work on the much-awaited album.
“We are staging our last public shows this weekend. We will, however, perform at private functions or any other corporate events.
“The move is meant to give the band enough time to work and put final touches on the album. After this weekend, we will meet our fans on June 10 at the album launch,” said Macheso’s publicist Tich Makahamadze.
Macheso is set to perform at Werras Park in Glen View 1 this Friday, his first show in the country since the successful tour of Botswana.
While the show was expected to draw huge crowds, the latest revelation by Macheso’s camp makes it a must-attend.
Show organiser, Samuel “Boss Werras” Saungweme told H-Metro that they have been preparing with a huge turnout in mind.
He said fans were now used to meeting their superstar on regular occasions.
And now that the show falls on his last weekend in public, fans are expected to throng this new entertainment hub housed at Glen View 1 new shops.
“We are aware of that; we have been notified and we are preparing with a huge turnout in mind.
“Being the welcome back (from Botswana) show, we were expecting fans to come in their numbers. But, now they need to be reminded that this is Macheso’s last weekend performing in public until June 10 when he launches his album,” said Boss Werras.
After the much-awaited Werras Park show, Macheso performs at the Castle Tankard at Borrowdale Racecourse on Sunday.
He wraps up the week with a family show at Jongwe Corner in Hatfield on Sunday.
