ALICK Macheso’s camp reckons the euphoria sparked by their boss much-hyped 54th birthday bash has proved he is, indeed, the people’s singer.
The sungura ace will unveil his 12th album, titled ‘Tinosvitswa Nashe’ this evening at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.
It will be triple celebration for the singer, who is also set to celebrate 24 years at the helm of Orchestra Mberikwazvo.
His publicist, Tich Makahamadze, said they were humbled by the buzz generated by the mega show, as fans were jostling for advance tickets.
“Our hotlines have been inundated with calls for the greater part of last week as we stepped up our marketing during the build-up for the album launch.
“Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex has always been our fortress where we have never disappointed.
“It’s also an event our fans have been waiting for and we are happy that we have managed to meet our deadlines to ensure that we don’t disappoint fans.
“We could have released it a year or two years back but we are only waiting for the right time to unveil the album,” he said.
Makahamadze said they were also excited to be celebrating Macheso’s milestones at a time when he has assumed the fatherly figure role in the industry.
“It’s unfortunate that some of the showbiz gurus that Mdara used to look up to like Oliver Mtukudzi are no more, which means that the task to mentor young artists lies with him.
“His journey has not been rosy if you consider where her came from to be where he is today.
“As we celebrate these milestones, lessons should also be learnt considering how he soldiered on to stay relevant,” he said.
To ensure Macheso maintains a soothing sound, which has made their brand distinct, he stuck with his long-time producer, Bothwell Nyamhondera.
“We simply engaged Mdara Nyamhondera who understands Alick Macheso’s sound better, having worked with him for years from day one when he decided to go solo.
“The chemistry between Macheso and Nyamhondera in the studio is beyond words as the two understand each other very well.
“Our camp was over the moon when the veteran producer said he was willing to add his touch on this album and we couldn’t ask for more.
“After all, Nyamhondera has been in the game for decades and such people are hard to convince when you are not good enough,” he added.
Macheso’s 12th album carries six tracks namely Makazvinzwepi, Kutadzirana, Nzendo Dzirefu, Impfa Nimulandi, Munhu Mumwe and Ndimi Vanhu Vacho.
