NICHOLAS Zakaria says his door remains open for collaborations with both young and seasoned artistes.
The 64-year-old said he was also learning from other sungura artistes despite over four decades in the game ruling the roosts.
The Khiama Boys founder said this ahead of the release of Gwanda based musician Master Zhoe’s single titled Gwenyambira this Friday.
It has an accompanying video set to be launched on the same day.
In interview with H-Metro, Madzibaba said it was a marvel working with Master Zhoe on the single.
“I first met Master Zhoe around 2017 when we shared the stage together in Gwanda when he approached me asking for my expertise.
“From the first impression after meeting him after his performance, I saw a talented artistes who needed to hone his artistic skills.
“He continued nagging me asking for a collaboration since most people in Gwanda like my music.
“Last year, he drove me to Gwanda where recorded the single for the whole day and came back after recording.
“The boys was saw happy that I had assisted him and I will continue doing that for the others,” he said.
Madzibaba said he was also humbled by the sungura has made across the divide.
“As it stands right now, it’s evident that sungura now appeals across the divide and I will continue doing myself to ensure that we keep it alive.
“Being endorsed by many young artistes is a plus to me because I had reached a point where I was contemplating slowing down or retiring.
“The love I get from other youngsters inspires me to work hard and I will continue helping others,” he said.
Master Zhoe’s camp could not hide their elation as they are looking forward to the release.
“We are ready for the release of the single on the 15th of January and it is our wish that it will be endorsed by many.
“Master Zhoe has learnt a lot from Madzibaba who happens to be a household names in Gwanda and its environs.
“We will continue working hard and learn from the best since he remains one of the living legends to look forward to,” said Lazarus Zakaria who doubles as Master Zhoe’s representative in northern region.
Madzibaba has a busy 2020 when he managed to do collaborations with a number of artistes.
Last year alone, he collaborated with Simon Mutambi, South Africa based Nicholas Somerai and Master Zhoe among others.
