YADAH and Warriors defender Byron Madzokere says he is itching to play against Liberia in the reverse fixture of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports stadium in Monrovia on November 18.
If given the chance to play, it would be Madzokere’s first time to play in the national team’s first eleven.
Madzokere said he would love to prove his worth in the national team.
“The opportunity for me to play in this game will be a great moment for me.
“It will be an advantage for me as someone who has not played before in the national team games.
“And that would be a chance for me to prove a point why I am in the team and if I am of value or not,” said Madzokere.
Warriors are on the top of the group with eight points followed by DR Congo on five points, Congo Brazzaville and Liberia are on third and fourth place respectively separated by a three goal difference.
Two teams on the top of the log will qualify to 2019 AFCON edition to be hosted by Cameroon.
A point against Liberia will see Zimbabwe through to the prestigious tournament, and Madzokere said they are not going to be complacent when they play the Lone Stars.
“We defeated Liberia 3-0 in the reverse fixture and our campaign so far has encouraging results.
“The previous results have instilled confidence in us and we are not underrating Liberia at all.
“We will treat them with respect,” he told H-Metro.
“We want to win this game to make sure that we are done with the qualification.
“The chance for us to win the game is high, we just need to be composed and cautious,” he added.
