ORLANDO Pirates winger Kudakwashe Mahachi wants to replicate his club form this Sunday when the Warriors face Congo-Brazzaville in the final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the National Sports Stadium.
Sunday Chidzambwa’s charges just need to avoid a defeat to seal a place at the AFCON finals set for Egypt from June 15 to July 13 2019.
Mahachi jetted in the country yesterday along with Marshall Munetsi and Knowledge Musona to join the bulk of Warriors stars already in the camp.
“I am focusing on a game on Sunday against Congo-Brazzaville. It’s a difficult match for us but as a team, we are going to make it,” Mahachi told the media.
“It’s only about hard work, I know I didn’t start well at Orlando Pirates but I’m trying to find my feet but for the national team as you know we always like to play for our nation.
“So I think I will carry that form to come and play for the national team on Sunday.”
Mahachi is aware of the competition for places after coach Sunday Chidzambwa called his best possible arsenal for the match.
And having missed Warriors’ last qualifier away in Liberia, which they lost 1-0, the former Chicken Inn winger is fancying his chances.
“We have got a good squad. Anyone can play because everyone is doing well,” he said.
“So it’s up to the coaches to know who is going to start the game on Sunday. We need to win this game because our opponents are a good team.”
“As a team everyone wants to win. We need to focus and play as a team. I know there are good individuals but for is it’s about the nation we need to take Zimbabwe to AFCON so we need to play as a team so that we can win.”
