A HARARE man accused a witness of dating his former wife and ganging up against him in a civil court cause.
Abdul Saukwinji was dragged to court by his ex-wife, Monica Buru, who claimed he was an abusive man.
This was corraborated by a witness, Kudzanai Machida.
“Whenever he comes, he insults Monica, accusing her of prostitution. At one time, he insulted her using vulgar words which I cannot repeat in this court,” said Kudzanai.
“Abdul’s older child sometimes refuses to go with him and he shouts at Monica, saying she only knows how to carry a pregnancy, but not to provide for the children’s basic needs.”
However, Abdul said the two were in a relationship.
“There are many females where she lives, so why is she bringing this man?
“I think this witness is her boyfriend.
“Your Worship, I shouted at her after she failed to take our child to the hospital and that was the only time I insulted her, and my sister can testify,” Abdul said.
Abdul’s sister corroborated his testimony.
“I usually accompanied him when he visited makoti so that they maintain peace because they are not in good books.
“I am the one who always entered the yard to collect the child because Monica denied us access to the older one.
“At one time, her landlord told us to maintain peace after Abdul shouted at Monica for renting when their matrimonial house was available,” she said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira granted Monica the protection order.
She advised Abdul to approach the children’s court for custody.
