A 47-year-old man assaulted his pregnant wife after she attacked his girlfriend in Mabvuku.

Stanley Muchinenyika bashed his wife Simangaliso Shyleen Chauke for beating up his lover.

Simangaliso, 23, had been tipped that Stanley was caressing his lover in a parked car.

She rushed to the scene and started attacking her husband’s lover.

Stanley managed to rescue his lover and bundled her into the car before speeding off.

Simangaliso stoned the vehicle and damaged the windscreen.

The two made counter reports against each other at Mabvuku Police Station before Sanley withdrew his case. Harare provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a case of assault involving a couple in Mabvuku. The husband is alleged to have bitten his wife following a misunderstanding with his (suspected) lover,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.

Stanley claimed Simangaliso was not his wife.

“I never assaulted her as alleged,” said Stanley.

“There is an issue between me and Simangaliso over the person responsible for her pregnancy.

“I have been dating her and she was at the same time bedding a married man.

“Upon conceiving she decided to elope to me since I was single at that time.

“Akauya time yandakazenge ndakugara nemukadzi saka ndakanomurojera kuGreendale.

“Her mother later took her because I had stopped sleeping there due to the pregnancy issues.”

He added:

“I have been supporting her but I doubt if I am the one responsible for her pregnancy.

“My mother told me to avoid her.

“We have some differences and that is why she is trying to fabricate the assault case as a way of fixing me or trying to draw myself to her.”

Simangaliso confirmed shattering the windscreen of Stanley’s car.

“Stanley and his girlfriend assaulted me,” said Simangaliso.

“Zvekuti nhumbu haisiyake inzirayekutiza nyaya yake sezvo vabereki vake varimapurisa.

“I had to seek medical examination after he assaulted me, together with his girlfriend, and that is why I had to stone his vehicle and I later apologised to him,” said Simangaliso.
