A mathematics teacher believes that everyone has the potential to pass maths but it comes with interest and being organised.

Onesimo ‘Maths Dr’ Mutadzwa says he has a 2030 vision to change the pass rates across the country.

Maths Dr’s approach revolves around making the subject accessible and engaging for students.

He emphasizes critical thinking skills over rote memorization of algorithms, encouraging students to view math as a way of thinking rather than a set of rules to follow blindly.

“I was given tactics by God so that I make sure the whole country passes maths.

“The majority of students are failing maths due to lack of orderliness.

“You need to throw interest into students or anyone who wants to pass maths. I feel trouble to people who commit suicide over failing maths.”

“By 2030, I should make sure, we surpass the 20 percent to at least 60 percent for the whole country.

“I feel troubled to see people failing maths, vanhu havana kurongeka.

“Vanhu vanotadza maths havana kurongeka, unoona munhu anoita form four anorasa mabook ake eform there.

“Lt’s groom a generation to be organised so they can pass maths. People should keep their materials, that’s where being organised starts,” he said.

He realized his maths potential when he was in grade seven.

“I realized my potential since grade 7 and I would help other students. When I was at Highfield High, I enjoyed reasoning.

“I would spend most of my time playing chess and I would read on my own.

“Throughout my life since grade 7 from around 1982, I have been doing maths.

“So, I am raising awareness on mathematics and I move around schools with the blessing of the ministry.”

Maths Dr said, he is appealing to the Government to help fight the maths fears.

“I have tactics, tricks, methodologies to deal with maths. People are afraid of it because people don’t like maths,

“Maths dzinotonetsa vanhu, we are not doing productivity which is required by maths. People have no innovativeness.

“I am appealing to the Government to assist me with resources so that I can move from school to school helping students.”
