Paul Pindani in Chinhoyi
A man who created a fake contract form with the intention to get inputs under the CBZ Agro-Yield’s special Programme on maize appeared in court.
The man, Washington Ongorani, appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Lisa Mutendereki charged with contravening Section 136 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter (9:23) which pertains to fraud.
Ongorani was granted $50 000 bail with stringent conditions, such as to reside at his given address, not to interfere with state witnesses.
He will appear again in court on July 14 for trial continuation.
Prosecuting, Tendai Tapi told the court that on December 10 2020, Ongorani, acting in connivance with Rumbidzai Chamunogwa, manufactured a fake contract form on the special Programme on maize production for import substitution in the name of the latter.
Ongorani accessed inputs that were later sold on the black market, prejudicing CBZ Agro-Yield of over $4,6 million.
