A CITY woman claims her son has been assaulting her over his abusive girlfriend.
Katelyn Marodza approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order against her son James Marodza citing verbal abuse.
“He is my son but he is in the habit of assaulting me whenever I tell him not to bring his girlfriend in my premises.
“I am his mother and I want him to stop scolding me in front of our tenants because they are no longer respecting me.
“He must leave this girlfriend because she is a prostitute and everyone in our community knows her behaviour,” said Katelyn.
Katelyn told the court that she wants her son to break up with his girlfriend.
“I do not want to see his girlfriend, they should break up and he must go to church and find a better girlfriend.
“His girlfriend doesn’t respect me, she even calls me a witch and I don’t allow my son to marry her whilst I’m still alive,” she said.
James told the court that he never assaults his mother.
“I don’t abuse my mother, we are living in peace and the only problem is that she doesn’t want my girlfriend.
“I take good care of her even our tenants can testify to that,” said James.
Presiding magistrate Tilda Mazhande granted the protection order in Katelyn’s favour.
