A 32-year-old woman is at odds with her brother who is forcing her to get married.
Rumbidzai Jaravaza opened up at the Harare Civil Court where she was applying for protection order against her brother Vengesai Jaravaza.
“We are of the same age and he is not married yet he is harassing me saying I should get married.
“He pushes me whenever he gets stressed and shouts at me trying to evict me from my mother’s place of residence.
“He is not currently employed and I am the one who is paying all the bills at home yet he is harassing me to get married.”
“If he keep on insisting that I should get married I want him to be evicted from home since my mother is tired of his abusive habits.”
In response, Vengesai denied the allegations.
“I never told her to get married.
“I loved her as my sister and we even exchange some house hold chores.
“All these accusations are lies I never act in such manner.
“Maybe is just a way to evict me from home since I am jobless, l think she is tired of take care of a 30 year-old boy,” said Vengesai.
Presiding magistrate Noah Gwatidzo granted the protection order in Rumbidzai’s favour.
